Saturday Morning Coffee with Kimmy

Good Morning everyone!! I hope you have your cup of coffee or whatever morning beverage you might love to enjoy and you are all warm and comfy. Here at our house it is just Roger and I up at the moment so it is a quiet morning for us. Christmas tree lights are on and it is just a great quiet time to enjoy (well, except to the smoke alarm that decided this morning it needs a new battery, that is beeping every 5 minutes).  Oh well…

At least once during the holiday season we will host a party and last night was the night for us.   We hosted Roger’s company Christmas Party here at the house.  So I thought I would just share a bit about what we made. In coming posts I will share the recipes but for today we will just talk about the food.

On the menu last night was, Crackers and Cheese (of course), Goat Cheese Wontons with a roasted red pepper dip, Semolina Shrimp with a sesame/scallion butter/oil sauce, and gnocchi with spinach and grape tomatoes for appetizers.

For our main course we had a kale salad with an orange shallot dressing with pomegranates, spiced pecans and some homemade croutons (we did determine if we made this again we would put some bacon or pancetta in it), Beef Wellington on a bed of julienne candied carrots, lobster mashed potatoes and asparagus. Then for dessert we had Bread Pudding Bananas Foster. All of it oh so good!!!

I have to admit my responsibility for the meal was not that much, Roger did most of it and as usual, it was amazing. I handled the won tons and salad and Roger took care of the rest (with the help of Tracy, his sister and our culinary consultant).

The evening was a success and today we will pick up the aftermath, but with pleasant memories and great leftovers. I hope you all enjoy your Saturday.

On a different side note, I appreciate all of you sticking with me and for your patience as we have transitioned to this new host site. I am still trying to get the email and “follow” button all figured out, but in the meantime could you spread the word about kimmyscucuina? Share our posts on Facebook and coming soon Pintrest as well!! Thanks so much!!
